Day 11 - Lamar (Mill Hall) Pennsylvania to Clark's Summit Pennsylvania

After yesterday's rainfest, today's 126 mile jaunt to Clark's Summit almost didn't seem challenging enough. Maybe days like yesterday happen so you appreciate days like today even more. We began the morning in Amish farm country on perfect roads. It was almost cold but very sunny and pleasant. By the time we arrived in Clark's Summit it was almost too warm in the direct sun. I spent most of the day with Ethan again and about 20 miles from the end we joined up with Geoff from Massachusetts to finish first here in Clark's Summit. I was still a little fatigued from the rain riding yesterday but pushed hard today knowing that the mileage tomorrow is less than 100 and I didn't need to conserve anything.

I saw a couple of Amish children in carriages in the morning and also saw two schools with front yards filled with Amish children playing. They were very friendly and waved at me as I rode by. All the girls were in their dresses and bonnets and the boys in their dark pants and hats. I can understand the fascination that people have with them. In our hectic world, their way of life can seem very attractive. Once we got close to Clark's Summit the traffic really picked up and we were glad to be done and off the roads. Just like home, the morning is the best time to ride on Pactour. When you get in to the afternoon it seems like people drive faster and are less patient.

Tomorrow is relatively easy at less than 100 miles. We'll enter New York by about noon with any luck.
